A game like Football Rules seems to be designed with only the sport’s fan in mind. It’s a 5 reel slot, offering us 20 paylines and a rather average design, making it a great fit for someone that’s intent on trying all the Playtech titles, or someone that just loves football. The green of the football field is the main focus here, so you get it behind every single reel and in different nuances. Graphics & Theme

The theme of the game is quite obvious, the world of football. It doesn’t seem to focus on a certain team or world event here, just on football in general. The design lacks the kind of appeal that we’ve gotten used to with the latest slots to be released, but it’s going to be enough for someone that really loves this sport and wants to spend more time around it. The symbols are a mix of computer generated images and real photos (it’s the case with the referee). The main problem with its design seems to be the green of the field, used in different nuances for the reels, so three of them have one color and the other two are different. Football jerseys of different colors and with various numbers, fans, goalkeepers, the referee, footballs, these are among the symbols placed inside.

Special Effects

Three types of features are included, all three being quite common in the 5 reel games that the Internet seems to focus on. We get the scatter symbol, the bonus game and the wild symbol.

The bonus symbol can only appear on two out of five reels, the 1st and 5th ones. You will need both of them to be present simultaneously, if you want access to the game’s free spins. The stadium is the one that will award payouts in the game, while being present in random positions instead of being on specific paylines. It’s a feature that I enjoy taking advantage of, in this case awarding payouts in the range of 5x to 50x what the total bet is. In other games this symbol awards the free spins as well, but in this case that’s the job of the bonus symbol.

Overall

The game’s biggest advantage is the progressive jackpot it offers and the focus on football, a sport with a huge number of fans. I doubt that it’s going to get as much attention from the rest of the players, it doesn’t have the right quality of graphics for it.
