Goblin’s Cave

Goblin’s Cave might look like a 3 reel slot with a classic influence at first, but don’t let that fool you. This game, with its 3 paylines, innovates quite a bit, using both a Hold feature and a wild symbol to insure that you’re still going to have fun with it. The goblin theme isn’t that successful to be honest, at least not the way it’s designed here, with few details involved in the background graphics, but I feel that the game itself makes up for the lack of focus with the graphics. Playtech did a pretty good job here, even though it’s not the best looking slot out there.

Graphics & Theme

In Goblin’s Cave, the action takes place in a cave as you might imagine, and yes, there is a goblin inside and he’s working the reels. The actual spinning of the reels are done by the goblin, as you will notice whenever you hit the Spin button. Inside the cave, there are lots of gold coins and treasures to be had, if only you can get the right symbols to line up on the reels. The Hold buttons are at the bottom of the reels, and you can use them as you want during each round. The game has a pretty long list of symbols, starting with the wild ruby symbol, then three types of crowns (red, purple and green used along with the gold), three tea pots made out of gold and using lots of ornaments, three rings, a gold coin and a lamp.

Special Effects

The wild symbol is an obvious feature here, giving the player an extra chance to form a combination, though it has its own payouts that it brings to the table, for 1 to 3 symbols of this type appearing on an active line.

The Hold feature is the real gem of the slot though. You start the game by clicking on the Spin button, and you will notice that three symbols appear on the bottom line while the other two remain empty. You click on the Hold button of the symbols you want kept, after which you click on Spin again. The symbols that are held will occupy the entire reel they’re on, while the rest will spin as they would usually do. You can Hold all three reels if the symbols are the right ones, which would give you three paying combinations at the same time.

Goblin’s Cave is a classic slot that’s worth checking out, whether you’re a fan of this style or not. Its features are the real attraction though, it has nothing to do with the choice of theme or design.
