Medusa’s Gaze is a mythical themed arcade game, drawing its inspiration from the legends of the Greek civilization. The game was designed by Playtech and even though it’s not a slot machine it does offer win lines, but the wager is placed on the game and not on individual lines. Just like a slot machine, it has wilds offers payouts for three or more adjoining bricks of the same color and its payouts will go as high as $5,000,000.

Graphics & Theme

The game’s theme focuses on the legend of Medusa, the creature that had a head full of snake heads, and which would turn any man to stone if she laid her gaze upon him. The actual design is nothing special, certainly not something that you would expect in the last couple of years, but it’s interesting nonetheless. You get Medusa in the middle of a round wheel full of colored bricks. The wheel goes all around her head, with the playing area delimited by two metal chains. There are 8 columns of 4 bricks each, which will award payouts when you get the minimum number of 3 symbols next to each other. The symbols used in this arcade game are quite simple, bricks that are colored in red, green, blue, teal, purple, yellow, blue, orange and white.

Special Effects

This might be an unusual arcade game, but its imitation of a slot machine gives you something to work with immediately. You will be paid whenever three to eight bricks of the same color are near each other, on one of the 12 paylines available.

One of the features of the game is the fact that it takes the winning combo off the screen, leaving their place for new bricks to come in. If those new symbols also offer a payout, a multiplier is applied to them.

The wild symbol is the only feature that the game has, with its usual capability of replacing other regular symbols. In this case, the white brick is the one responsible for this happening.

The payouts tend to be quite low if you only get a couple of bricks to form up, but they appear often enough, so you tend to get your money back. You place a stake on the entire game, so the multiplier of the payouts is for that, not per line like in slot machines. You can get as little as 0.1 times the stake for three red bricks, or as much as 10,000 times the stake for eight orange bricks.

Overall

If you love slots, but you’d like something different, Medusa’s Gaze is an interesting arcade game that was inspired by them. Its payouts are huge too, plus you get some cool features to take advantage of.
