A game that is slightly unusual for a 5 reel slot, Queen of Pyramids comes with 9 paylines and with a retro design that manages to look good among its competitors, and there is no shortage of Egyptian themed slots out there. Playtech is the developer that is responsible for the creation of this slot machine, and they’ve done a pretty good job at it. There is a lot of stone used in the design, plus symbols that are drawn in ways that actually resemble the images from the walls of the pyramids and temples. Graphics & Theme

The Cleopatra theme is quite common in slots these days, as is the focus on Egyptian symbols and gods. In this case, the developers did do things differently, the symbols being hieroglyphs instead of the usual boring images representing Ra, Anubis or some other deity. The symbols are not too modern looking, which would’ve been a mistake since the game has a focus on an ancient civilization. You get a number of images that look just like in their temples, representing objects and animals. Examples would be the images of birds, fish, the Sphinx, sailing boats, pyramids, flowers, Egyptian slaves and so on. Even without the game looking modern, the quality of the symbols insures that this remains a pleasant experience.

Special Effects

The Queen symbol is the one used as the wild feature here, with the added benefit of the progressive jackpot that it offers. The player will need the symbols to be on the same active line, with five of them offering the jackpot, while two to four will result in payouts of 25x to 500x the line bet. Only the maximum bet will award the progressive jackpot, with any other wager giving the player a 40,000x multiple instead.

There are two other feature symbols present here, one of them being the unicorn like icon, with three of them activating the bonus game, if they are on the same line.

The other feature would be the typical scatter, with an image of a crab or a scorpion on it. Both payouts and free spins are offered by it, in both cases the requirement being at least three symbols being present.

Overall

The theme of the slot might be common and not that interesting, but the way the game was made improves on that first impression quite a bit. Queen of Pyramids is a pleasant slot to play, a good choice for a few hours if you’re looking for a new game.
