Santa Surprise is Playtech’s idea of a holiday themed slot, and I must say that they’ve done a spectacular job of it. This 5 reel/20 line slot will give you the classic Christmas experience, from start to end. It uses a lot of red and all the usual images that you will associate with this holiday, using at every step of the way a Santa Clause that looks like it’s taken directly out of a Coca Cola add. The features that enhance the experience are the wild, the scatter, multipliers and free games.

Graphics & Theme

There is quite a bit of Christmas vibe coming of this slot, as you will notice for yourself as soon as it loads. There is a lot of red being used, both in the background image and in the symbols themselves. Pretty much all the symbols have some sort of red bow on top, if they’re the kind that a bow could be tied to. Santa Clause and a snow covered house are the only ones that don’t have one. Playing cards each come with holiday themed objects and decorations, the cards themselves being made out of wood. The rest of the game symbols include the wrapped gifts, golden bells, a Christmas tree and the gift sock.

Special Effects

Santa’s the wild feature of this slot, smiling like the all knowing wise man that he is. He is fully dressed in red, with a white beard and he is capable of awarding the game’s biggest payouts. Up to 10,000x the line wager is awarded to a player that gets a full payline covered by Santa. Other than that, this is a typical wild symbol with no extras offered.

The scatter symbol is next on the list, with the image of a snow covered house used for it. A total of 10 free games with 3x multipliers are awarded, as long as a minimum of three houses are on the reels. Payouts start from just two scatters, so you can expect this symbol to reward you often.

The Christmas tree can be a source of a lot of joy here, just like in real life, as it gives you the Christmas Gifts bonus game, with 3+ symbols appearing. The symbols need to form a regular combo though, so they don’t have scatter abilities. The player chooses 3 to 5 gifts, receiving prizes from each one.
