Wu Long
A Chinese inspired slot, Wu Long takes you in the middle of a game that offers you 5 reels with a total of 25 lines inside. The game’s design tries to borrow as much as possible from the Chinese culture, and in typical fashion for this type of slot it uses a Chinese temple behind the set of reels. The game doesn’t really excel in graphics, at least when the general design is concerned, since the symbols do look well. The features consist of scatter symbols, the Dragon’s free games and multipliers.
Graphics & Theme
The Chinese have been used as a source of inspiration in dozens of slot machines, from all kinds of developers, so it’s nothing new as far as the theme is concerned. The game doesn’t do very well with its graphics either though, especially when it comes to how the main game looks. The symbols do look good, but the combination of the reels and the image from the top part don’t mix well together, so the entire game has to suffer. The symbols that are part of the slot’s paytable are made up of playing cards, Chinese women, lampions, firecrackers, drums, hats, the arch of an entrance into a temple and a dragon puppet.
Special Effects
There is only one real feature offered in this game, the one that acts as a scatter symbol. The position of a scatter symbol on a screen does not matter, but it does need for a few of its brothers to be present at the same time in other spots, in order for it to be able to do its job. In this case, a minimum of three scatter symbols will result in a payout as well as a round of free games. The payouts start at 5x the bet value and go up to 50x the bet, depending on the exact number of scatters.
The same three dragon symbols will trigger the Dragon’s Free Games. A total of 12 free spins are awarded when this happens. During the free games, whenever a dragon symbol appears, it can trigger one of two events, Growing Multiplier or Free Games Retrigger. The multiplier starts at 1x and it goes up by 1x when there is a dragon present, or down by 1x when there isn’t one in that round. Best case scenario, the player can get up to x6 multipliers and an extra 12 free games.
Overall
Wu Long promised to be a rather average game, at least when you look only at the slots with a similar theme. It doesn’t stand out with much, though I will admit that the free spins and their features sound interesting.
